Since our founding, we have leveraged
over eighty million dollars for Detroit neighborhoods through programs
and services in collaboration with faith and neighborhood-based partners.
We have consistently demonstrated that collaborations work and that true
collaboration multiplies the impact of scarce resources and enhance the
wealth of services in our communities.
Moving our Agenda Forward is a strategic look into the operations
of Michigan Neighborhood Partnership (MNP).
Moving our Agenda Forward will provide
you with a brief overview of the various departments associated with
MNP and our overall objectives through 2010. The Center
for Shared Excellence the capacity building and research division of MNP will release in June
2008 a new position paper entitled "The Power to Change". These
documents will emphasis the importance of family development as it relates
to urban children and youth. The Power to Change offers a fresh and unique
prism for community development and becomes the guiding core value for
Moving Our Agenda Forward.
Throughout this web site you will note
one of principle core values of collaboration and partnerships. Therefore
MNP is very committed to assisting our partners (both our core partners
and those affiliated with us through faith and neighborhood organizations)
building and increasing their capacity of service and sustainability.
Our commitment to this effort is demonstrated not only in our direct
services through our team of Expert Practitioners but also through the
various symposiums, training's and our new MNP Fellowship opportunities.
One of the greatest problems facing America since the Great
Depression is the foreclosure crisis. Since April of 2003, our agency has
provided homeownership, foreclosure and loss mitigation counseling and
financial literacy training. MNP has significantly expanded our homeownership
team of expert counselors and created a new program entitled: S.T.A.N.D.
Strategizing to Adopt a Neighborhood In Detroit. This unique new concept
is building collaboration with community, faith, and neighborhood-based
organizations to target specific communities which have been hard hit by
the foreclosure crisis to provide loss mitigation along with prevention
based services at a neighborhood level.
MNP currently operates the oldest Individual
Developmental Accounts (IDA) Program in the Metropolitan Detroit area.
Moving our Agenda Forward presents a new concept to allow faith-based
organizations to adopt and mentor young single mothers. The program is
entitled, Circles of Hope. Additionally, MNP will embark on developing
a virtual business incubator to launch and support new micro enterprises.
As you review Moving Our Agenda Forward, it our hope that
you will find a place for which you can join our team of collaborating
partners to make the Detroit the best city in the nation.
The Center
for Shared Excellence (CSE) is the capacity-building, research and technical
assistance division of Michigan Neighborhood Partnership (MNP). In September
2006 MNP implemented CSE through a grant from the U. S. Department of
