S.T.A.N.D is a community wide solution that provides loss mitigation counseling, foreclosure prevention assistance, Save the Dream classes, financial literacy, budgeting, credit repair/counseling and homeownership classes. This is a proactive approach that includes a collaboration of several community-based organizations, faith-based groups, businesses, public officials and community development corporations (CDCs). Our objective is to aggressively attack the growing number of foreclosures impacting our city and our neighborhoods. MNP will pilot this project in collaboration with NorthStar Community

MNP will pilot this project in collaboration with NorthStar Community Development Corporation by opening a Housing Service Center to serve residents in the following zip codes 48203, 48221 and 48238. These zip codes cover the University Districts, Palmer Woods, Green Acres, Sherwood Forest, the Golf Course District, Bagley Community, University Commons, Pilgrim Village, Martin Park and Fitzgerald communities. Included in these communities are two academic institutions: University of Detroit Mercy and Marygrove College.

MNP will place full time certified MSHDA counselors on location in these communities to provide one-on-one counseling, conduct several community informational forums and foreclosure prevention and homeownership classes. Our goal is to reach every homeowner and provide them with the tools needed to prevent foreclosure and mortgage delinquencies. It is our long-term goal to open Housing Service Centers throughout through out the Detroit area.

S.T.A.N.D. will recruit area residents to serve as Homeownership Advocates and to appear at public events in the neighborhood, including block club meetings, churches, community events and university gatherings. Additionally, S.T.A.N.D.
