Michigan Neighborhood Partnership (MNP) is hosting a series of community summits entitled Changing Strategies. The focus of the summits is to build the capacity of faith and community based organizations in key areas that can enhance the lives of Detroit area residents. The first summit will be held October 22 – 24, 2009 at Wayne State University in the Community Arts Auditorium.
Changing Strategies I will focus on four areas. They are: Education, Financial Literacy, Social Entrepreneurship and Green Jobs. The objectives of each of these focus area are outlined below. |

| Education |
| 1. To develop effective strategies and best practices for parental engagement in the academic lives of urban students. 2. To provide concrete examples (national best practices) of how the community can help promote academic success. 3. To explore how community and faith-based organizations can provide and/or position urban students with advantages to success either through mentorship, internships or access to successful professional models. |

| Green Technology and Jobs |
| 1. To provide information regarding greening and green job opportunities to community and faith-based leaders. 2. To build community-based collaborations that can prepare Detroit area residents for new employment opportunities. 3. To educate community leadership on the economic and global advantages associated with a green theories and lifestyle. |

| Center for Shared Excellence Learning
Communities |
| 1. To highlight the importance of financial literacy training a community level. 2. To launch a area wide campaign to engage 50,000 families in financial literacy training over the next three years through community and faith-based organizations. 3. To expand the economic opportunities for Detroit area residents. |

| Social Entrepreneurship |
1. To provide concrete examples of how social enterprise can enhance community and faith-based organizational mission and revenue streams. 2. To assist twenty Detroit area organizations with new business strategies which include social enterprises.
MNP has engaged several collaborating partners to provide long-term technical support to those agencies and leaders who desire to expand their work in these areas. One of the key goals for the Changing Strategies Summit is to build collaborations among community and faith-based organizations across geographical and other boundaries. The collaborating TA providers are: University of Michigan, Michigan State University, National Center for Social Entrepreneurship and Operation Hope. |
