CENTER FOR SHARED EXCELLENCE (CSE)
The Center for Shared Excellence is the capacity, research and technical assistance division of Michigan Neighborhood Partnership. In September 2006 (MNP) implemented CSE through a grant from the U. S. Department of Human Services. Our overall objective is to improve the operations of faith-and community-based organizations (FCBOs) through an innovative approach of peer-to-peer technical assistance. CSE first targeted group of organizations are those FCBO’s serving high-risk youth in the Detroit area. CSE recognizes that small grassroots organizations cannot afford to hire full-time expertise in every domain. CSE retains the high-capacity staff employed by successful organizations as Expert Practitioners to help others learn new skills and adopt best practices. The Center for Shared Excellence coordinates this peer-to-peer learning through daylong group training sessions and on site one to one visits by Expert Practitioners. We believe that the instruction provided will enable small FCBOs, serving at-risk families and high-risk youth in Detroit, to increase their capacity in multiple domains (e.g. volunteer recruitment and retention, sound fiscal management and best practice program models for high risk youth).
